My DIY Wedding Inspiration Board just for you!

Standard

66 days to my big day and things are in high gear! I thought I would give you all a little sneak peek into the inspiration and and progress on our DIY wedding.

I have shared the dress inspiration but here it is again, the Eleanor Rigby from Peppermint Pretty:

And we received the fabric this week, so far the $1200 dress has cost me $296 for supplies:

Here are the amazing Lauren Jones shoes from Endless.com I was able to purchase with the money we saved on the dress:

And here they are in person next to the dress fabric:

Here are the centerpieces I made.  We have 12 of each size and they cost about $50 to make.  The vases were for DollarTree and the rest of the supplies all came from Michael’s:

I will be filling both with colored water on the day of the wedding and floating candles on top.

These are my bouquets for me and my oldest daughter who is my Maid of Honor. The feathers came from Lamplight Feather and the rest of the supplies came from Michael’s, each bouquet has cost me about $15 to make:

Here are the rings we will be giving the girls during the ceremony, they are from LoveIvy jewelry and are $108 each:

So far cake inspiration is all we have and this was found on Offbeat bride as part of Mariah and Manny’s Rockabilly wedding. Hopefully we will secure a baker soon and have a better idea, we of course want our color scheme and changes to cake to make it ours:

Here is the cake topper we got because Daddy Dearest actually liked one. It was $15 at Wedding Reception Ideas:

Our champagne flutes are from Hand Painted Gifts and were $35, the sell through Amazon.com:

Our cake server and knife were $27 and bought on Amazon.com:

I’m making my daughter dresses too and I will post pictures of those soon.

Let me know what you think!

Here are the Tuesday Blog Hops I’m participating in this week:

Stream of Consciousness Sunday: Hodge-podge and Mish-mash

Standard

I took a weekend off….I unplugged and it was amazing.

I sent the kids off with Dad to do fun stuff and I wandered around the house doing what I wanted.  I avoided dishes and laundry because I do that all the time and focused on things I loved.

I worked on my daughter’s dresses for my wedding, I watched some new movies we bought, I ate Oreos and finished up my bathroom curtains.

My friends and mother-in-law came to visit.  We laughed and gossiped and truly enjoyed each others’ company.

I booked our honeymoon hotel, we decided on New Orleans! I am so excited because I have never been there and neither has Jason.

It was a great weekend, I feel revived and ready to take the week on!

Stream of Consciousness Sunday: Wedding Prep

Started making my bouquets for the wedding last night.  Cutting up my fake hydrangeas and lavendar….deciding that the website where I found my dress had an awesome idea of putting feathers in their bouquets.  Looking at feathers online with one of my best friends….do we choose ostrich, peacock, guinea?

And why is it that events like this sneak up on you? We have had a date picked out for almost 2 years! 2 years and I havem’t done crap! lol  I rushed to get save the date cards out and i have had ages to do it.

Here is the dress inspriation, but I’m not $1200 happy with it so we are making it, me and my friends, because we are crazy or gluttons for punishment or something….

I;m not that skinny so there will be less under the chest space, I think that would not be pretty at all :)

However, I love the airy look and just happened to stumble upon the Peppermint Pretty website duiring a dress search…..sigh….love it….

Anywho…on to appetizers and music selection and wedding party dresses and oh shit, what the hell will the groom wear? grumble, grumble, grrrr……

The oh-my-god-I’m-getting-married-in-5-months post!

Standard

In the last few weeks, it become too clear that I have totally been slacking on this wedding thing.  You know what I have done? I have a reception hall booked and a date and some flowers for centerpieces….that’s it!  I do know what dress I want, that I want a dj and to make appetizers instead of dinner.  I do know that I want my daughters as my wedding party and that the wedding colors are purple, green and blue. AND I DO know that my butt to way too big for that beautiful wedding dress I covet so badly.

So what is a girl to do?

I guess my first step is that diet and exercise I keep talking about.  It’s not gonna be excessive, I’m okay if I lose 25 pounds and fit into a size smaller dress, but it needs to start.  I have been counting points with Weight Watchers but I read a good article in Real Simple the other night about treating meat as a side dish. I think it would be good for me, the concept is being vegan until 6pm then you can have a nice portion of meat without ruining your diet.  I will let you know how it goes…..also I will be starting a Fabulous Food Friday on my page and will be sharing a recipe every week.  This week we are trying out different Shepherd’s Pie recipes.

Another thing is a dj, they are really the only other thing for me to book.  I need one that is around $450 for four hours.  That’s is more than I have paid before but it seems in the past two years dj’s prices went way up.  Any suggestions for reasonable dj’s in KC?
